Mobirise

A journey through Africa

1988 - 89 by motorbike

The bike was a Kawasaki KLR650.
The route was down through Europe, Morrocco and then into Algeria to explore the Sahara, before dropping south to Niger, Benin, Togo and Ghana.  Then heading east into Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Zaire, Uganda and ... finally, Kenya.
Then I went to Iceland.

Throughout the text I have used the place names used at the time.

The Ruwenzori Mountains

Between Zaire and Uganda lie The Mountains of the Moon

A magical land of rainforests, gorillas and quiet people.

People

The kindness of people willing to give their time to be photographed

The pygmy culture is now almost completely gone, eradicated by oppression, habitat destruction and alcoholism.
